One of the items on the Jan 2026 Committee Meeting was the lack of transparency regarding the POTY scoring system, last year was a little difficult to understand and was not readily available, so it was decided to have an overhaul and make all the info available on our website, so that all members would understand exactly what was happening, and each month a POTY league table would be produced....this will be published by Taff
There have been a few changes to POTY for 2026, the main differences have been in the scoring system, and the fact that team events NO LONGER carry any points....only points scored by an individual plus points for nearest the pin ( NTP ) will count.
The system of the best 6 scoring events will remain in place...same as 2025.
The new points system is as follows:
1st....20pts
2nd...17pts
3rd....15pts
4th....14pts
5th....13pts
6th....12pts
7th....11pts
8th....10pts
9th......9pts
10th....8pts
11th....7pts
12th....6pts
13th....5pts
14th....4pts
15th....3pts
16th....2pts
After that, anyone who competes from 17th onwards will be awarded 1pt. NTP's will be awarded an extra 2pts.
If 2 or more players have the same score, then we use the standard R & A method to determine positions.....i.e Best back 9, if still level then best back 6 , if still level and then best back 3

Cabopinho in Oct sees us playing a Texas Scramble so there will be no change to the POTY scoring, other than 2pts for each NTP.
The scores are getting very close. Adam who was leading for most of the year has been overtaken by
Ricky the Bricky, this means the last 2 comps at Santana and Calanova will be crucial!
It's the best 6 scores of the season to count, so to add to your scores means you will have to improve on your lowest score e.g Ricky's lowest counting score is 9, he will have to beat that number of points to improve his overall total, so don't expect too much change. I think it's between 5/6 players.
Where you see a greyed out cell on the spreadsheet with a "strikethrough number" and a # included in the cell, this means that this score has been discarded in favour of a larger one ( 6 scores to count ).
2025 Poty results were:
Rob Muir 79pts
James 78pts
Adam 75pts
Taff 72pts
So you can see how close the comp is. We have changed the scoring system slightly for 2026 but it's still set for an exciting finish.
