Many thanks to all my golfing friends from 97 Bar for supporting me on my "Drive In".
Calanova was my chosen course, it was in great condition, set up very tough with pin positions often placed just on the brow of a slope which made putting difficult to say the least, just ask new member Steve Griffin...a magnificent 3rd shot on the par 5, 10th to about 8/10 foot for a birdie chance, only to come away with "null points", zilch, zero...blobby! 5 putts from nowhere ( and he's a good putter! ). That wasn't the only difficult green....so many putts going up only to return further than when they started.
I thought I was going to be nervous for the first tee shot, but strangely felt really calm and just about managed to get one away! I didn't even hear the orchestrated banter from my mates! ( I think the pros call it...being in the zone ), I credit it to being deaf !
For me, it wasn't so much about the golf...it was about you guys having a fun day out, followed by good old sausage and mash afterwards.
Prize giving went well and congrats to all the winners with a special mention to young James Godwin and a slightly older Robert Muir...enjoy your vino guys!
Before I finish I really do have to mention Clare and Johnny H who made sure everything ran smoothly and gave me the benefit of their experience. I did miss 2 very important friends Pete and Katherine and wish them a speedy return, get well soon guys! And I'll finish by saying it was also lovely to see Dennis back on the tee.
2025 - "Onwards and Upwards".
Should be a great day out....much prefer to watch the legends than the top golfers. Used to follow them in the UK
Hi Taff. Checking the blog works. I’m considering going to Aloha to watch the final round of the Legends tomorrow- free entry.
This is just me testing to see if the comments page works...it does!
