el Paraiso July

Just for this month I have decided to put Charlie's report here instead of giving it it's own space.

Bar 97 Golf Society - Captains Report – El Paraiso – July 2026.

Playing this course was a first for me. I’d heard many reports about how good it was, and it certainly lived up to my expectations. It was in a beautiful setting and immaculately maintained. I must also add that the staff at the club were very friendly and well organised. They had all our buggies ready with signage and keys in the ignition ready to go. Chris, who works there couldn’t have been more helpful to me.

On to the golf. The conditions weren’t the easiest, we started at 9am and within an hour the temperature had hit 35C. A physically demanding round of golf! Having said that 14 players managed a score of 30 points or more. The team prize went to Bob and Sam Thompson, Iain Boyd and Lolli Clarke. They scored a commendable 91 points. The individual event was won by Dennis, who came in with a remarkable 41 points, just beating Rob Muir who had 39 and finished second. Well played to our winners and all our fellow competitors.

We had five guests today, Liam and Mark Huskey, Sam Thompson, Dan Holden and Steve Geary. It was great playing with you, and you are always welcome.

At this point I’d like to thank Ricky for his continued generosity towards the Society, he regularly gives extra money for us to buy wine, golf balls etc. Thanks Ricky, it’s much appreciated.

I’d also like to welcome our newest member, Elio Dusi, hoping to see you on a regular basis.

Finally thank you for all who came to the presentation. We enjoyed a really good buffet, and the craic went on until late in the evening. Until the next time.

As of 6th July we now have 24 players, all guaranteed to play, that leaves 0 on the reserve list as James Bridges has dropped out. Please check your handicaps and if there is a problem let us know soonest.

Should you want to play with your guests pleasde advise Charlie...we do try to help, sometimes it depends on handicaps.

Also, please advise Charlie whether or not you will be eating afterwards at Bar97 and if you would like to bring guests...it's helpful to the staff to know how much food to prepare, in advance.

I shall not be joining you this month as 2 BIG birthdays means a BIG party in Germany.
