Well lovely people...this is it. My final report as Capt. What a day, as tough as I've ever seen Calanova play, so many back tee placements and flags in some horrible places ( I think the greenkeeper must have had an arguement with his wife! ). The weather was great, albeit rather windy, which only added to the difficulty of the competition, that said, the condition of the course was superb...definitely one for the longer hitters though.

I checked out my stats yesterday...an acceptable 30pts off 16, not bad really, BUT, I had no blobs, played with the same ball throughout, hit 12 out of 14 fairways, 3 out of 4 greens ( just 2 over gross on the par 3's ), however, greens in regulation ( 0 out of 14 )...ouch, it was just too long for me, I'm getting old!

We started off with a coffee in the clubhouse where we all had a little surprise "goody bag"...actually I didn't get one....must speak to wifey about that.... followed by a few photos on the first tee which I will add to this blog a little later on.

From a purely personal view I thoroughly enjoyed the company in our little team...Ricky, Roger and Dennis, great guys and good fun to be with.

The evening was fantastic! We welcomed 2 new members..Dirk Kroonen and Eamon Bradley and it was lovely to see Steve Griffin and his new wife Patricia with us, plus Ivana the lovely wife of Dirk. The meal was great, service first class and we were really well looked after...looking forward to next year already. The atmosphere I loved, Crissie was superb....just a very special night. The presentation was an emotional roller coaster...the realisation that it was all over made me feel quite sad in a way, the last 12 months have been tough but I wouldn't have missed it for anything. It's very true that you get out of life what you put into it....I've been blessed to have a good team around me..and I should say that it was Clare and Johnny H who organised the evening.

I think this is an appropriate time to say a great big thank you to all of you guys. Yesterday I chilled out and took stock of everything. We've had a good year, I've been blessed with taking us forward after the great job Clare did last year, and we can now all get behind Charlie and give him our support for the coming season, I have absolutely no doubt he'll do a great job, always remember that this is your Society, and your community.

The website WILL continue next year, I was quite prepared to let it slide but lots of you have asked me to carry on, so I will try,...I've got a few new ideas to improve it. This is a good juncture to thank Adam for sponsoring it 2025 and for Blobby T in 2026, top guys!

I will of course post the full results under the "results" tab a little later on, but I have to say well done to Eamon for a great score of 35pts off 15 to win the Capt's Day Trophy and to Rob Muir who hung on to pip Adam and James for the POTY....well done guys, exciting finish!

Johnny H was an extremely generous sponsor of the POTY winner and runner-up, and let's not forget that it was Richard Taylor who thought the competition up and donated the trophy, and talking of sponsors, a big shout out to Ricky the Bricky who sponsored both the men's and ladies longest drive...we need more Rickys in the World! Plus of course it would not be right if we didn't acknowledge the generosity of Steve, Julie and Steph from Bar97...thank you all very much on behalf of the Society.

Time for me to take a break, I'll probably add to this later on and post some photos.

I have just one little request, don't be afraid to make your views known, all you have to do is write something in the comments box below each blog, all feedback is useful, if anyone is uncertain re the website I am willing to talk you through it....catch you later..Taff.
